thursday: a touch of frost

26/08/2010 § Leave a comment

These last weeks of August are filled with doing things with family and friends. Collecting cherished moments that seem too fleeting now that the air is crisp and mornings are dark. My heart feels fuzzy and my head aches, but I know that soon most of us will bury ourselves in books and nuzzle close with cups of home-brewed coffee. Keep the room lowly lit with lamps in our dens and bellies barely full with slow-cooked stews we made in the Fall. The cold does not have to be boring. It will be a time to slow down and digest the fruits of summer’s luxurious labour. A break from the intense heat.

We are animals after all.
